What is a bedside crib?

This is great for toddlers and older infants who are struggling to settle and can help with digestive issues such as colic and reflux.

The crib can also be affixed to the side of the bed using a strap and clip attachment. This makes it extremely stable and secure allowing you to get a good night's rest without worrying about your child sliding off into the middle of the room. The cocoon's rounded shape features softly padded sides and two mesh windows on both sides to allow for plenty of air flow whilst making sure your baby is safe.

Plus, it has an upper bar that can be easily lowered for nighttime feeds without needing to fumble with zips in the dark.

Anna discovered that the CoZee was a safe and comfortable place to sleep for her baby. She was delighted the fact that it didn't roll like other models, so it wasn't waking her in the night when she was trying to comfort her baby during feedings. She also appreciated that the side of the chair was lowered so she didn't need to reach over her partner in order to lift the child to feed them at night.

The CoZee is available in charcoal and oak and is a chic addition to the bedroom. It looks more like an elegant piece of furniture than some of the other cribs that we've tried, which appear quite utilitarian. It's also fairly light at just 11kg, and comes with a carrying case which allows you to take it on vacation or when you move house. The only extras you have to purchase are a waterproof cover and a safety strap for co-sleeping. There are step-bystep instructions and photos to assist you in putting it together when you first open the box, making it a one-person task should you need to.

The Maxi-Cosi lora

The Iora is a bedside cot crib bassinet that helps parents feel closer to their infant as they sleep. It can be adjusted upwards and downwards and moved to three different slide positions to fit beside the bed of the parent or in the corner, so that the baby is always within reach. The mesh siding is breathable, allowing air to circulate through and gives you a quick glance at your little one. You can also put away additional pajamas or other items in the large basket underneath.

As opposed to other bedside cribs The Iora folds flat and comes with a travel bag which allows it to be taken wherever. It was easy to move from room to room, and our mum testers felt it was the right size for a bedside cot crib crib. They also appreciated the large storage basket, that is ideal for storing nappies or other bedding items.

This is a great option for parents looking to co-sleep but don't wish to share their beds or whose partner may have mobility issues, like arthritis or back pain. Our mums who tested it were thrilled to be able to easily access their baby while in the Iora and that it had an optional reflux incline that helped to reduce gas.

Our moms appreciate that the mattress follows NICE guidelines. These are to place the baby in a Moses basket or crib on its own without toys, blankets and pillows. They also state that the mattress is comfortable and firm for babies and is easy to find sheets for. It's not as light as the other cribs that are smaller on our list, so if prefer something lighter and easier for you to move, choose another option.
