Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum can keep your floors tidy enough to decrease the frequency of hoovering manually. Pick a robot vacuum that has good navigation, can clean corners and stairs, and that has an enormous bin that needs to be emptying every so often.

There are models that mop and charge themselves, which is a feature essential for families with pets or children. The top performers in our tests have excellent obstacles to avoid.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling, the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a good option for those who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience but are willing to manually empty the robot's dustbin after it has filled up.

Both robots do well picking up surface debris off hard floors and carpets, and they're excellent in maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home to help the i3+ navigate and clean efficiently. However unlike the i7+ or other top rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles which means it can get stuck on things like power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty traversing transitions across surfaces, such as from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it might encounter. You should also keep the dustbin and filters clean to prevent them from getting blocked. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station and automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station's dust bin. It then continues cleaning from where it began. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for approximately an hour and a half continuous use. It takes about three hours to fully recharge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model of the flagship line from iRobot and comes with all the latest features. It has self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most significant feature is its best self cleaning robot vacuum-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for regular maintenance.

The Roomba I7+ is able to better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot with voice or through the app.

In our tests, the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our second-placed model which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surfaces kinds, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin that removes major maintenance sources and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot cleaner to begin, stop or pause its cleaning session and to move around the room, and even vacuum a specific space. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. Once connected, to speak commands to the i7+, like "Hey Alexa vacuum deals the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a world of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in most homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system traps allergens, then releases fresh air into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive stiff nylon bristles deep into carpets to trap large crumbs and fine dust. It comes with three suction settings to meet the task at hand. It is able to quickly switch between handheld and floor remote vacuum cleaner, and vice versa.

This model also has docks that charge to 100% in about 3.5 hours, and gives users an easy access to two attachments as well as a clip for a wand. This is a significant improvement over older Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The main drawback of the V10 is its short run time. As CR's tests have shown, its marketing claims of up to 60 minutes are not true. This is a typical not an extraordinary time for a battery-powered cordless vac. It's enough time to clean a typical-sized home however, it's not enough time to get into every corner. (A second time is usually sufficient). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeable superior on carpets with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

One of the most well-known robot vacuums the 694 is an affordable model that's a great option for those who don't want to spend too much on a robot. It's capable of sucking up all debris types and sizes during our tests, and it often goes over the same areas multiple times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front end helps to get into corners and along the edges of walls which is a nice feature.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more sophisticated models like our Top rated robot vacuum choices, the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. This means that it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't as sturdy, and frequently will run out of battery before making it back to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi best robot vacuums is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694, as it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower recurring cost, has more advanced automation abilities and is better able to move its own. It also has a bigger dustbin, and charges more quickly.

The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for most reasons, since it has a better battery life, the ability to change its suction power mode manually and has physical boundary strips, and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more robust, has a larger motor, and performs better on floors with bare or low-pile.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a well-known brand in the field of home electronics. It's not surprising, then, that they are one of the top makers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology to navigate and avoid obstacles.

The app gives you plenty of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior modification docking frequency settings and much more. It's easy to comprehend and easy to use, just as is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our tests our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86% of it. However, it did not do particularly well in avoiding taller objects like cords and socks which was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than the other models we tried and could be a deterrent for some buyers.

The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that you can access through the app, and you can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature allows you to monitor your pets or children while you're away. The dustbin and the filter can be cleaned for an easy, quick clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean and tidy station that's self-emptying to keep the robot's dustbin clear and optimizes suction power for each cleaning run.
