World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.

The process of upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests Each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a certain amount.

Item Level

When an item is upgraded, its stats are increased in value. The value is the sum of all of its upgraded advantages (attack, magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high depending on the upgrader you choose and the type of upgrade you choose to perform. This is due to the sheer number of perks that need to be altered to upgrade an item.

The level of an item is a popular measurement of power and is visible on all item tooltips. It is also used as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is capped at the lower levels). The average item level is listed on the character sheet.

The level of an item can help players compare the potency of gear when deciding to purchase or sell. It's a useful indicator of an item's quality and the amount of damage it will be able to deal. The item level can also be used to evaluate items when looking at the inventory of a vendor.

On PC, you are able to see the level of the item by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including the ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are a few theories on how the item level calculation is done. One theory states that the level of an item is calculated using a formula that calculates the worth of the stats of an item really are. It considers the fact that various perks have different value and gems in sockets add to the item's overall value. This can lead to an item's ilvl calculated, which is typically very close to Blizzard's real level of the item.

This isn't the only factor that influences the ilvl of an item. The location of where the item was dropped can alter its stats. For instance, it could add a level to the item's haste or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have a higher value.

Item Stats

The item's stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in different ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the best." The stat mods on weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then increased by a player's level.

Item upgrades add to that by boosting certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. For example, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers will be upgraded several times with higher prices.

Affixes are a different method to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and are available in all shapes and sizes. The affixes can do things like give the item extra damage, or add a unique capability to the item (such as reviving the dead or cutting down the duration of cooldowns) or make the item upgrader kit unique by adding a special name to the item.

At present, all affixes can be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button using circles arrows. This will cost a specific amount of gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, just like the other methods of rerolling.

Players can upgrade an item by specific stats, or reroll attaches. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However each item will include at least one stat in that range unless they are an item that is unique, or the item is a God Roll from a raid boss.

This is another aspect that could be altered by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or deciding which stats to boost. Like the base equipment, this would have to be done per item, and the interface for item comparison will not show all possible stats simultaneously.

Item Luck

The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the likelihood of finding items and the properties that are spawned from loot drops, and the intensity of those properties. It does not, however, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players an opportunity to get better gear earlier in the game. This is particularly advantageous for early game runs, since players tend to prioritize the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

Luck can also boost the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance that increases with each level of the item and can be further increased through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, shields, and armor can spawn or be crafted using the Luck property, with a default value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on the type of material) for a further +40 luck or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.

Certain items, such as the Hollow-infused weapon can also be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any ability that is able to deal damage by five percent. These items are available in the shop or crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. However, there are some cash shop items which allow players to increase their success rate or prevent them from losing an item level upgrade in the event that the upgrade fails.

When you upgrade an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of completing the upgrade successfully, and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased by so much, and the chance that an upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.

The Luck of an item may influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. All items have an initial success rate of 25%, and every item that has Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items which means that enchantment glints and other effects may be obscured by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
